Understanding Relay Costs

When your data is routed through relay nodes or gateways operated by others, costs have a base rate to cover the relay operator's costs plus an additional rate that varies on the medium the relay uses to forward your data:

Note: Relay costs are variable because the actual cost depends on how the relay forwards your data—whether through free WiFi, a paid LoRaWAN network, cellular backhaul, or satellite uplink.

Common questions about our pricing

The SDK is included with all WavePlane plans, including the free Hobbyist tier. You only pay for data routed through WaveNet (pay-as-you-go) and optionally for WavePlane management features.
The WavePlane monthly fee applies to your account, even if your devices are temporarily offline. You can easily deactivate devices to stop billing. Wave RF continues to work offline with local mesh networking.
We only bill for data transmitted to and from the device over paid networks, like cellular, satellite, or paid LoRaWAN® networks. Data sent over the internet from your own devices, or direct connections between your devices are included. Relayed data is billed based on the relay method used plus a base rate to cover relay costs.
